Barre fitness is the fasted growing workout nationwide. It is a hybrid workout class – combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes incorporate a ballet barre (or a chair at home) and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements. Barre is glute and abdominal intensive, in a safe and low impact environment. Building these muscle groups reduces low back pain and issues that develop from sitting in a desk for long hours. Join Amy for this booty burning, abdominal strengthening class!
Join Amy for her Private or Group Reformer Pilates classes. The reformer will give you a different and unique experience from the Mat. You will gain more flexibility, balance, and coordination. Private sessions are offered at Amy’s home in Lakewood and to those who prefer more individualized attention such as working on particular injuries/chronic pain or those seeking more advanced or a specialized workout. Group classes are open to everyone and are offered on Thursday evenings at Wheat Ridge Recreation Center. Check the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center website for group classes or contact Amy for more detail about group or private sessions.

Perfect For Everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. How It Works: We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-torching dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Come check it out!
Perfect for those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting! How It Works: The challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba® Toning Sticks (or light weights), helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged! Using the Lightweight maraca-like Toning Sticks enhances sense of rhythm and coordination, while toning target zones, including arms, core and lower body. Amy is one of very few instructors in the Denver metro teaching this class format, because she loves seeing the results with herself and her participants!
Denver West Burbs was founded in 2010 with community in mind. We take pride that we are not a big box gym. Our members know one another and are welcoming to newcomers that want to be a part of our community. Denver West Burbs is locally grown, starting in 2010, with Amy and her love of Zumba fitness and those who became dedicated students.
Amy’s fitness journey started with dance at the age of 3, Jr High and High school Cheerleader, 3 years in the African Ensemble, 2 study programs in West Africa and BA in Ethnomusicology, with focus on West African music/dance/cultural studies: University of North Texas, member of 7 African dance ensembles over 11 years, 25 years Latin dance: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha-Cha, 2 years student of Capoiera. All of this dance lead Amy to teaching Zumba, which she has done since 2007. Amy has loved every minute of working with the fitness community and helping people achieve their fitness goals.
In 2016 Amy was introduced to Pilates, on a Reformer (Machine with resistance pullies). Within just weeks chronic low back pain began to subside. Amy fell in love with Pilates and now has been teaching full time since 2018. Amy is a huge proponent of Pilates, as it heals pathologies in the body and strengthens the core muscles that prevent injury.
Amy also has received extensive training in Barre Fitness, Suspension training, Microfacial and trigger point methodologies, and mat Pilates.
Amy can assist you to reach and maintain your fitness goals, through group fitness and private training upon request. Check out the schedule and we will see you soon!
